My Sweet Valentine

It’s funny how fast things change isn’t it?

4 years ago I was living in Vancouver, anxiously waiting to see if I passed round one of the admission requirements for the EATM program.

3 years ago I was living in California, attending the EATM program and newly dating Steve. It was our first Valentine’s day together and we went to a very nice dinner at the Ronald Regan Presidential Museum. (with his brother and one of my roommates!)

2 years ago Steve and I were newly engaged, planning our upcoming wedding and getting ready for graduation in a matter of only a few months.

1 year ago today, I had an ultrasound and we found out we were having a little girl. We stopped at the mall on the way home and picked out her very first outfit.

And today: we have this beautiful, happy, most amazing almost 7 month old. She makes me smile and laugh everyday. What did we do this Valentine’s Day? We went to Target. Yep. How things change.

Isn’t she just precious? I’m so in love.

Valentine’s Day marks another anniversary though, it has now been 14 years since my grandpa passed away. I still remember everything about that day like it was yesterday. After he died my grandma gave me a ring that he had given her. It was the last ring he gave to her before he died. I put it on and never took it off. In fact, it is now my wedding band. I wanted something meaningful and this ring means so much to me and it just “fits” with my engagement ring.

My grandma died exactly 4 years and 10 days before Ava was born. Ava’s middle name is my grandma’s name and how fitting, as I can see my grandma in her sometimes. It’s the neatest thing.
