A rare Zoey moment

I managed to capture a rare Zoey moment on video tonight. Luckily I had my camera within arms reach when she started! I’ll back track a bit here. Angus, our westie, LOVES watching TV. He will sit right in front watching for an animal to wander onto the screen, and when it does, he starts barking and barking. Yes annoying. It was once cute, but now annoying, lol. What amazes us though is how he can distinguish between cartoon people and animals. Even with that stupid cartoon – Family Guy – Angus will sit there and watch silently while all the characters are on, until the dog character Brian comes onto the scene – then Angus starts barking! Anyway, only occasionally will Zoey join into the commotion. Her bark is not a normal bark though, it’s more of a wolf howl. She never gets off the couch though to go over to the TV where Angus is, heaven forbid she leaves her beloved pillow, hehe. So here is a little video of Zoey on the couch doing her funny howl :)

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, fresh fruit. I so love this time of year. I stopped at the market today and got loads of fresh produce: asparagus. beans, peas in the pods, red and yellow cherries, watermelon, strawberries and corn on the cob.

Free Online Classes

Techniques 101

Starting June 26 until July 26, 2008

FREE online Technique classes. Is there a technique you always wanted to learn how to do? Well how about learning about 20 of them? Each week we will focus on 3-5 different techniques. Photo instructions and handouts will be given for each technique. We will have a private forum to discuss the techniques, work on class assignments, and chat with other classmates. Live chats will also be scheduled for those who want to participate.

This is the first set of classes in a Technique series – a whole new series starts in August!

2 Prizes will be given out at the end of the Class term (end of July) – chosen randomly amongst class participants. The 2 prizes are: an assortment of scrapbooking products by American Crafts & a custom made mini album made by me (you choose the type of album you want, email your photos to me, and I create the album and send it to you)

If you’d like to sign up for the classes, please email me at jess.acs@gmail.com – space is limited, first come first served

New Stuff

I finally got some photos taken of some new stuff!

This Mix it Up mini book “Just Us” is a class I will be teaching at Precious Memories (www.myscrapbookshop.com) in June

This cute little mini book (Love Elsie line) was really fun to make – I did it on everything that happened in March since it was such a busy month. The mini book and coordinating paper and embellishments were from the Little Daisy scrapbooking kit. (www.littledaisyscrapbooking.com).

Pictures of the inside pages of both the Just Us mini book and this little camera mini can be seen on my flickr page at http://www.flickr.com/photos/jessacs/sets/72157604224104475/

This was a fun quick layout I made with left over love Elsie paper from the Little Daisy kit. :)

Yesterday we got to go to a fun event downtown Vancouver (www.eat-vancouver.com) – Eat! Vancouver – Foodshow!! It was crazy busy and so much fun!! (this is my Dad’s foodshow and I am so so proud of him – this show is AMAZING!). We go every year and this year’s was the biggest and busiest yet! After we filled ourselves up with yummy food – I managed to convince Brent and our friend Wouter to take a trip to Pacific Center mall :)

Look who showed up for dinner

Yesterday was my mum’s birthday and we were fortunate enough to be able to come to Victoria to spend the weekend here with my parents. My dad threw a birthday party/dinner for my mum and it was so much fun! When a couple of my parents friends were leaving, they noticed something standing in the driveway in front of the gate, then the gate started to open (it works on sensors) and a cow started to walk into the yard!!! Of course everyone rushed outside to see it and I think all our voices and surprise startled it so it turned and walked back down the driveway towards the road. The odd thing is, there are no farms around their house. Everyone on their street has acreage but most of them back onto the Highlands (which is all forests). This was so odd that there was a loose cow wandering around!! Brent grabbed a flashlight and went after the cow and my mom grabbed a bucket of the food she feeds to the deer (which is meant for cows too I think) and a bucket of water and I grabbed my cell phone then we went after Brent and the cow. Their long driveway and the street was almost pitch black (no streetlights), but we could see Brent’s flashlight. The cow was HUGE!! I was surprised at large it was up close, it was just a regular black and white dairy cow. We offered it the bucket of food and it was very quick to help itself.  Brent called the non emergency police line to let them know about the cow. The operator asked him to describe the cow – lol. Then told him they had someone report a missing cow. We were both thrilled – it must be the same cow – what are the chances that there would be more than one loose cow wandering the streets? Well, the chances were pretty good I guess, cause it turned out that the cow we found was not the one reported missing. We could read the tag attached to its ear and it was not the same number as the missing one. They were going to send someone over to figure out what to do with the cow and asked if we’d wait with it. So there we were at 10:00 PM walking up the dark street behind this huge cow, just hanging out with it.  Further up the road one of the neighbors came out and said he thinks it might belong to the people at the very top of the street – apparently they have about 100 acres and they have 4 cows. He phoned them and it was their cow, this same cow has wandered out once before. Their son arrived a few minutes later to escort the cow home.

It was an interesting end to the evening!

Another special birthday

Today is another special birthday, this time being for my parents dachshund Rusty who turned 15 today!!!! She is officially the oldest dachshund my parents have owned (My mum has had dachshunds since she was a teenager). Rusty is very dear to my heart as I was 15 when we got her. I remember us picking her up from her breeders house and bringing her home when she was only 8 weeks old. It was summer and I took her everywhere with me. She’s been a part of our family for half my life! And she is doing really good too, especially considering she is 15 (what’s that like 105 in human years??)

Zoey is 4 today!

Already my sweet little black puppy is no longer a puppy – where does the time go?? Zoey turned 4 today, and although its hard to believe its already been almost 4 years since I brought her home, its also hard to imagine not having her, seems she has been a part of our family for so much longer. If….that made any sense….. lol. It’s been a verrrrry long day today, and I’ve been up since 4:30 this morning so I think I should go to bed.

Anyway, just wanted to post some pictures of Zoey’s birthday excitement! (*sigh* yes I know, I need to have a kid :) )

Zoey enjoyed her wild BC Salmon dinner, then had peanut butter brittle cookies, fresh from the 3 Dog Bakery! …then…… she got to go for a ride in….. HER NEW CAR!!!!! Ok, its not a car, its a bike trailer!!! hehe! We’ve been wanting to get one for awhile now and today we got it. So after dinner we put it together, hooked it up to Brent’s bike and we all went for a family bike ride around the neighborhood. It was really just to test it out and see how the dogs liked it. (Our next door neighbors got a laugh out of it when we explained it was to take the dogs with us on bike rides). We were worried they would be scared in it, but luckily they were very relaxed and seemed to enjoy the ride! We have a lot of great areas to ride bikes around here so now we can go for longer rides and still have the dogs with us :)  (and yes, they were strapped in wearing their harnesses)

National Scrapbooking Day

Yesterday was National Scrapbooking Day, and I had the great opportunity of teaching at Scrapbook Parade in Victoria. Both my classes were full, and they were so much fun. I met lots of new people and I am so thrilled to say that everyone in the classes were so nice and fun, and they all got along so well with one another. I had a blast! A big thank you to Carol for having me :) Another piece of great news is that Carol has asked me to come back and teach more classes so I will be doing 2 mini book classes in July (while I am in Victoria visiting my family). The classes will be on the coaster album “Betcha Didn’t Know”

This weekend we are having a huge online crop at WeScrap! (www.wescrap.com) – there are tons of awesome prizes to be given away! I’m going to try to get a bit of scrapping done this afternoon :)

Getting ready for the class at Scrapbook Parade – I totally meant to take pictures while the class was going on and forgot!

The class I taught at Scrapbook Parade was a technique class. I created this mini book to use as examples for the class – there are over 40 different techniques featured in this little book. I’ll post more photos later – the ones I took didn’t turn out very good
